Looking to stay up with the latest Halloween trends for your campaigns - or maybe just so you don't go out dressed as the same character as everyone else?
Google's got you with its latest 'Frightgeist' search trends index, which showcases the latest Halloween search trends by region, costume, and a range of other subjects.
The new Frightgeist is an improvement on years past, with updated graphics and creepy, 80s horror movie-style music that plays as you look around.
The main element of Frightgeist is the costume listing, highlighting the most searched costumes either nationally or in your local area.
Google says that the most searched costumes for 2019 thus far are:
- IT
- Witch
- Spider-Man
- Dinosaur
- Descendants
- Clown
- Fortnite
- Chucky
- 1980s
- Unicorn
So, a lot of creepy clowns. Also shoulder pads, going on the 80s note.
Click on any of the trends listed in Frightgeist and you'll get a more in-depth breakdown of that costume's popularity:
There's also a larger map, with key trends that you can hover over for more detail.
And if you want to stand out from the crowd, Google's also provided a Costume Wizard, which will suggest Halloween costume ideas based on your chosen preferences.
As noted, if you're looking to make the most of your Halloween campaigns, or just for costume ideas, its definitely worth checking out the Frightgeist listings, while Google has also published the latest overall Halloween trends here.
It's an interesting format for search trend listings, while the music is particularly creepy - and it keeps playing as long as you have Frightgeist open. Worth a look.
