Despite suffering a slight drop in the latest Gigya social login stats, Facebook still dominates the market, with almost two-thirds of social logins happening via Facebook linkage. Social logins make it easier for users to access sites and apps without having to remember multiple passwords, whilst also providing additional data to both the sites themselves and Facebook.
Gigya's report also examines how social logins are used in different sectors and regions, with a breakdown of which platforms lead in each category.
From Gigya's report:
"In the third quarter of 2015 (July - September), Facebook's market share of social logins declined for the first time since Q3 2013. While the world's largest social network still holds a 64% share of all social logins, has Facebook plateaued as a third-party identity provider (IdP)? It will be interesting to see whether Facebook can meet or surpass the all-time high 66% share it achieved in the second quarter of 2015."
Interestingly, Google+ added two percentage points to its share and now has 22% of the market.
