Sally was one of the earliest PR bloggers, having been introduced to it by Bill French of MyST Technology in the summer of 2003, but her interest in online PR dates back to 1995 when she worked on a project that was being done at Paisley University in Scotland at their Micro Electronics Development Center. (MEDC).
Since moving to America in 2000, Sally has leveraged her many years of public relations experience to become a tireless speaker, blogger and evangelist for social media and the dramatic ways in which it has changed the way people access and use information. She has also help build some successful businesses.
"In 2004 I joined forces with Doug Hay at Expansion Plus Inc.," Falkow says. "We work with companies that want to improve their Internet marketing strategies and results," Falkow says. "We specialize in content syndication as an online PR and social media strategy using RSS feeds, optimized press releases and articles."
Sally is also co-developer of PRESSfeed, a social media syndication tool that helps marketing and PR people use online tools without the need for a webmaster or the IT department.
Sally is currently a Senior Research Fellow with the Society for New Communication Research. She also writes the ProActive Report, a monthly guide to aspects of social media and PR in the Internet Age and blogs about these subjects at Search Engine Watch, The Leading Edge, PRoActive and, of course, Social Media Today.
"Social Media is about the conversation between people," Sally says. "But it is also a fascinating study in communication, influence and behavior. My goal is to help other PR professionals understand the shift in media consumption and implement effective social media strategies in the new Internet landscape."
