This is a quick list of dos and don'ts in business blogging. Advice that I've gathered from many people that I've started to incorporate in my own practice and pass on to those I work with.
Do
- If your business is more than one person, you should have more than one blogger.
- Talk about what is going on with the company.
- Ask for help, suggestions on how to improve.
- Encourage employee blogs and link to them (clear employee blogging guidelines my be needed).
- Feature customers and clients... spread the love!
- Invite guest posts from customers.
Don't
- Shy away from controversy... especially when it involves your company.
- Always use blogging as a way to feature product, shell out your press releases or try and get people to buy something.
- be afraid to talk about your competition, just keep it above the belt.
- be afraid that people will say bad things... they will deal with it!
