The Culture of Content Creation
The Culture of Content Creation is a video series about people who make their own digital content to share with the world - such as blogs, podcasts, wiki entries, online product reviews or videos - to learn why they do it, what they find rewarding, and how they view their role in the world. Started in early 2008, this cultural media project from Elastic Lab continues today, reflecting changes in technology, knowledge and the social fabric of the Internet.
"Getting the middle people out of the way," puts the spotlight on online radio producer and host Frank Thompson. Frank is the founder and facilitator of the AZ Rhythm Connection, an educational group that teaches and spreads knowledge about percussion and drumming. By teaching classes and playing live Thompson has continued to pursue his life long love of music. He also disseminates his knowledge through his Creamy Radio program entitled Classic Moments in Music. In this video Frank discusses many social media concerns and approaches including regaining control over what you produce and how you are seen online. The tools of social media allow him to make himself available 24/7 and to craft his online persona. With his ability to netcast and podcast he is continually amazed at what he can produce as one individual. The real benefit Frank sees in his endeavors is the lack of a need for middlemen and connecting directly to his audience. So sit back and jam out to "Getting the middle people out of the way."
