As we addressed last week, Timeline is bringing with it updates that will drastically affect marketers. Now that you know you'll have the ability to message customers directly it's important to examine some additional updates that have been made to your Facebook brand page. Content display is among the most exciting updates you will see on your brand's Timeline.
With a slight nod to Pinterest, Facebook now allows you to "pin" your favorite post to the top of your Timeline. This is an easy way to keep preferred content in front of page visitors without having to repost content on a regular basis. If you have already opted-in for Timeline, then you've noticed that landing pages are no longer an option on Facebook. Many marketers are going to be turning to "pinning" a post to the top of their page as an alternative to the traditional landing pages.
How to "pin" a post
To pin a post to the top of your Facebook Page, click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of your Page's post, then select "Pin to Top." The post will remained pinned to the top of your Facebook page until you pin another post, which will replace the current pin, or until the post has been pinned for more than seven days.
Now that you've got the basics, you know what Facebook changes have been made and the new capabilities your brand pages have. The question is: will you change your Facebook strategy to keep up with the competition?
