With many reports that people are unable to find the "Name Verification" tab and being unable to find it myself this morning, I can only assume that Google has closed off this method of name verification. If you happen to have success please let us know in the comments below.
With Google's insistence that user accounts be opened under a real name, there is the issue of verifying whether Google+ profiles have really been created by celebrities and public figures. To solve this issue Google rolled their new verification badge program this past weekend.
"When you visit the profile of a celebrity or public figure, you'll see a verification badge next to their profile name," explained Google+ software engineer Wen-Ai Yu,"This will help you easily determine which profiles are owned by real, verified people."
