King Arthur, the legendary king of Britain, inexplicably gallops into the parking lot of a small office building on a sunny summer's day. Behind and astride their horses is a legion of beautifully gleaming armored knights. The king of the Britons waits patiently and understandingly as two young pages unfurl a purple dyed carpet from his feet and towards the entrance of the aforementioned office building.
Once the rose petals had finished their slow descent by the King's feet, he deftly and spryly demounted his steed and marched gloriously to the door. The other knights wasted no time in demounting and eloquently followed the king.
The pages opened the door and bowed low, King Arthur and his knights of the round table made their way inside. They stood in front of the now bewildered secretary and stood quietly.
After some intense moments of awkwardly confounded silence, the brave secretary took a deep breath, mustered all of her courage and asked what the armored men were looking for.
"We are seeking to find a place of business brave enough, nay BOLD enough to tackle the Social Media needs of me and my knights of the round table," Arthur said smartly.
"Well," the secretary trembled, adding with a slowly budding courage and confidence, "I believe you men have found the right place."
"We shall wish to speak with the highest ranking officer in charge!" Exclaimed Sir Galahad the pure.
"Down the hall and to the right..." The secretary was dually determined now.
The men marched off down the hall, clanking steel on steel.
"Oh and gentlemen," She added, forcing the brave knights to turn and stop briefly, "Please don't track horse dung all over the office!"
The men continued and Arthur rapped twice on an open-doored office with a fine blue hued interior.
A man inside, smartly dressed, told them to come in and have a seat.
"Ah! A fine wall covering, what is this? Mashed and watered blueberry?"
"No Sir, I believe it is the finest Sherwin William's interior paint," the well-dressed man responded. After the knights had awkwardly positioned themselves in their full armor on tables and half-sitting in office chairs, he added, "Now, what can I do for you fine men?"
King Arthur, who was uncomfortable, got up from the corner of a window frame, which he was awkwardly sitting on and beckoned his pages to bend beneath him, that he could use their backs as a seat.
"We wish to find a proprietor bold enough to help us achieve our goals via this, what did Merlin call it...?" The king trailed off, as if searching for words.
"Social Media my liege." Merlin, who appeared in a subdued gray mist, appeared with the answer out of nowhere.
"Oh yes, that is correct, we wish to conquer 'Social Media' and we have been on a quest throughout the lands to find one who could help us achieve our goals."
"Well, you've come to the right place Arthur," the smartly dressed man responded, removing his glasses dramatically. "You see, we are the most elite of social media strategists, you may have pulled a sword from a stone, but we have taken Mr. Zuckerberg's programming and run with it on a daily basis!"
"That sounds intriguing friend," Added Sir Lancelot, "what will you need from us?"
"Well, we are going to need to know your target demographic, what do you wish to achieve from this?" The smartly dressed social media strategist shuffled some paperwork and pulled out a notepad and pen. "We will need to know what makes you tick and what we can do to get you where you want to be."
King Arthur pursed his lips and pressed the tips of his fingers together, through a furrowed brow he said slowly, "We want to get our message of chivalry and honour out to the entire world,"
"That is quite the daunting task sir, but one that I believe we can manage. You see we can utilize Facebook to set up a fanpage where everyone the world over can follow your day-to-day actions and get a better idea of what your committee of round knights are all about..."
"That's knights of the round table, friend..." Sir Gawain interrupted.
"Ah, yes sorry, Knights of the Round Table." The social media strategist didn't skip a beat, "Well as I was saying, we can set up a Facebook page..."
A blast of lightning crackled from the tip of Merlin's staff igniting a pile of paperwork in the corner of the office, "I do apologize," said the wizard excitedly, "But I think we need to let people know of the Ice Dragon we slayed in the freezing mountains of the north!"
"Well, that would be perfect content to build a strategy for you in fact!" Said the strategist, "We could build a landing page on your Facebook account that directed your potential fans or clients to an automatically playing video of the dragon slaying!"
"Ah! I like this!" Said Arthur.
"Yes, and going further we could set you up on Twitter so you could send messages directly to your clients or fans, as well as keeping them updated and making them feel a personal connection with your brand."
"That is all well and good," said Merlin the wizard, "but what about those dratted trolls who keep writing ill-begotten quotations on our organization all over the Internet?"
"Well we can absolutely help you manage your online reputation, as well as helping you get videos and new content all over the web! We can set you up on Linkedin for your more professional clientele connection, and we could even have people check in to the battlefield via FourSquare."
"This sounds incredible," Said King Arthur, "We are ready to shake and make a deal with you, we are prepared to give you a small fiefdom in the north of Britannia as well as your hand in marriage with any of Lancelot's daughters..."
"Hey!" Shouted Lancelot and Galahad echoed his sentiment."
"Okay perhaps just the land then..."
"Agreed!" Said the intelligent social media strategist.
The two shook hands, taking turns acknowledging each man in the room.
The knights exited the room and King Arthur smiled and waved at the office staff as he typed at lightning speed into his Smart Phone.
The secretary entered the social media strategist's room and together they watched the Knights of the Round Table exit the parking lot, bards playing music and the pages tossing rose petals as they left.
"Well, I think we are representing King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table now." Said the strategist.
"I wonder if Merlin is seeing anyone..." The secretary said under her breath.
