Charlene Li , an analyst at Forrester Research, has shared some insights from a new report Forrester report that is likely to help lots of companies figure how they can create their own custom ROI measures for blogging. An important note to keep in mind that Charlene shared:
& this process and framework is not cut and dry, black and white. Rather, it's highly subjective, requires tremendous judgment, and is open to interpretation. But it is a starting point for an otherwise nebulous activity.
There is an excel speadsheet with detailed information on how certain values were created but I have not been able to access the file. If youre able to access the file let me know.
For the blog example used in the report, the key metric that drove value was press mentions. It is certainly an important aspect to track, however, I believe the value of adding new knowledge and new names to a database is something more CFOs and CEOs will find familiar.  The secret is to first create tailored metrics that support your business objectives for blogging and, the second is to actually track them.
How are you measuring to determine success for your blog?Â
