I've recently written an article on newsjacking in the context of a content marketing strategy, I think it is quite a dangerous thing to engage in, you have to be quite sure about what you are doing and how you're doing it... Also, not every news is worth "jacking" i.e. some news have significant and potentially serious impacts on people's lives. I remember some quite daring newsjacking examples from hurricane sandy last year...
