As Predicted, 2013 Holiday Sales Went Mobile [INFOGRAPHIC]

It wasn’t a surprise, given smartphone adoption, that mobile was going to have a huge impact on this year’s holiday sales. Social media is having more of an impact, but it pales in comparison to mobile’s impact. Of the sales that occurred, 38% of the online traffic came from smartphones and tablets according to IBM Digital. 21% of all online sales were made from those mobile devices. That’s a 5.5% increase over 2012!

Overall, the four day shopping weekend continued to show online and mobile growth with consumers opting to surf their tablets and smartphones — showrooming, webrooming and jumping on mobile delivered deals. Via Genesys

It wasn’t all great news this year, though. According to the NRF, initial sales were down this year and the average shopping cart total was down 4%.
