Big news: Sprinklr is scaling, and in a very interesting way, by acquiring the consultancy and analytics firm Dachis Group, founded by Jeff Dachis in 2008 after he successfully launched and sold Razorfish.
Some of the smartest people in social business, not to mention some of the first people to “get it,” besides Dachis, like Peter Kim, Dion Hinchcliff and many others, have made Dachis Group consistently punch above its weight. It’s consistently understood that all this “social stuff” was not just about marketing, but about a more fundamental way to understood how business is and will be done in a networked era. They’re joining forces with one of the most nimble of the social media management firms, led with the strong executional background and style of Ragy Thomas. The combined entity will have 300 employees, serve 400 brands and have offices in NY, Austin, London, Delhi, and Bangalore.
Thomas had this to say about the acquisition: “This acquisition makes Sprinklr the largest independent end-to-end Social Relationship Platform in the market. Together, the two companies have raised over $95 million in venture capital, acquired 11 companies, including three of the original 14 Facebook Preferred Marketing Developers, and served over 50% of the Fortune 500.”
Dachis’ focus on analytics gives Sprinklr new capacity with a key demand from their enterprise customers for not only the numbers but the analysis and actionable consulting. Dachis has also been expanding its practice areas into content optimization and employee advocacy. Clearly, the big thinkers and analysts at the top of the Dachis food chain will enhance Sprinklr's ability to move its platform and services to a more strategic region of the enterprise. Dachis has been seeking to scale and diversify, with limited success, for at least the last two years, moving more and more into providing technologies and acquiring other firms.
Thomas was quick to point out that, in spite of the fact that most agencies have considered Dachis serious competition, this is not about competing with Sprinklr’s agency customers: “We are a software company. It is about training them (agencies) to deliver the services that brands require.”
Both companies are private, and terms were not disclosed.
