So, the Fourth of July is almost upon us, and in addition to grilling, swimming and lighting sparklers, a digital ad agency wants you to throw tweeting onto your long-weekend agenda.
wedu, the same digital agency that brought us a tweet-powered talking skull at Halloween and a tweet-powered Easter egg printer this past spring, has gone to the Twitter well one more time to celebrate a holiday and the result is pretty cool.
Between now and Friday, if you include the hashtag #4thofjuly in your tweets, you automatically set off a fun virtual fireworks display on this Twitter app. The festivities can occur over one of eight available skylines and, according to the site, the higher the Klout score of the person tweeting, the bigger the fireworks display - an interesting attempt to expand social reach a bit by stroking a few egos of the people that still value their Klout score.
Obviously, these types of agency social media stunts don't translate into much for client applications, but they are fun to play around with and I am sure this is getting wedu the extra attention a small agency needs these days. There is a bunch of clutter and noise out there in the digital world and just getting your creativity and style noticed by brand managers is more than half the battle.
Go ahead and tweet your fireworks display and happy Fourth of July to all of you in the United States!
