Twitter Profiles Test Results
If you have been on Twitter long enough you know how important your Twitter profiles are. Recently I did a small split test on 2 different profiles to see what the results would be as far as adding new followers.
Now this was not a scientific, data filled test haha, if you been on my blog long enough, you know I'm all about simple. This was a simple A and B test. Now simple doesn't mean it didn't reveal some great information on which profile you should be using.
What I did was I chose 2 Twitter profiles, one was more personal and funny and one was more about service I offer.
The 2 Twitter Profiles I Tested...
I'm a Blogger, Internet Entrepreneur, Social Media Believer - Kidney Transplant Rec - Scuba Diver, DD Coffee Fanatic - Hustle To Succeed!
I'm a Blogger, Internet Entrepreneur, Social Media Believer - Helping You Start and Grow A Successful Blog - Hustle To Succeed!
As you can see on my personal profile, I share more about me and my life and what I like and with my services profile I keep it simple and to the point about share what I can help people with.
The Goal Of The Twitter Profiles Test?
First, see if Twitter profiles matter.
Second, see if they effected how people see your Twitter page and if they will follow you.
Knowing these two things is very important to you and your success on Twitter. It doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on as far as what matters more, quality or quantity.
You still need followers!
To me, I am all about building relationships with as many people on Twitter as I can and the more targeted followers I have, the better my chances to connect with as many people I can on a daily basis.
Look at it like this, on your blog you want as many readers as you can get right? You would never say "oh I have 500 targeted readers I Do Not want anymore"...Right?
Even though you know you will not be able to connect with each one every day right?
So why should you see Twitter any different?
I say you shouldn't, you should get as many targeted followers as you can, THEN build a strong community around them using Twitter Dummy Guide <-Yes shameless plug inserted
Test Results
On average with my personal profile would return about a 40 - 60% follow and my services profile would only return a 20 - 30% follow.
I tested my Twitter profiles over a 3 week period, at all different days and times and I primarily targeted bloggers and marketers at about a 70 - 30 ratio.
What To Do Now
As you can see Twitter profiles matter, they matter a lot!
My personal profile worked best, and why did it works better? It's more personal haha it's that simple! People want to connect with REAL people that offer more then just services, they want to connect with people they think they will enjoy tweeting with.
Now you can take this information and do a few things...
You can take each of the Twitter profiles I shared and write your own and alternate both over days or weeks.
You can write up a more personal Twitter profile and use that to share more about you.
You can do nothing and continue to complain about why you don't have any followers.
Now I am not telling you that ALL your success on Twitter comes from just having a great profile, but your profile is the first thing people will see before they follow you, so why not have that be as awesome as you can make it?
