Something I've always been fascinated with is the power of celebrities on social networks. Fortune 500 companies have more money to focus on advertising and marketing, but they all pale in comparison to celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber!
So why do celebrities have such huge & loyal fans & followers? This is a great question that I think every social marketer should ask themselves. I would say that the biggest reason that celebrities have such incredible followers is because their social is all about CONTENT.
Most celebrities have absolutely amazing content, following them on their journeys, touring, recording, making music videos, and videos in which they talk directly to their fans! I love Diddy's Instagram with his motivation & real talk videos that really give you a great insight into what motivates him!
So how do you develop a celebrity voice that will resonate with your fans & followers? I would stick to this strategy: Think about... Personality!
Create a Personality - Some of the best two that come to my mind is Flo from Progressive, and Allstate's Mayhem Guy. Both have an identifiable personality that represents the brand, and you can interweave them into all marketing & advertising. This will allow your personality to live in both the online and offline worlds of your brand, which is vital. With your personality, get to know your fans by asking fun question, develop engaging offline events to connect to your social followers, and show off your story with behind the scenes videos!
This is a strategy that works at every level, and you don't have to be a Fortune 500 company to develop a personality/celebrity for your business. Think small, start by using or developing your business' Mascot, and be determined to develop an identity that your customers can identify with, have fun with, and enjoy engaging with! Be the brand that your fans & followers want to talk to on a daily basis. Developing a social personality is one of the most viral ways to get superstar celebrity EXPOSURE!
