Key Answers
Did you have a passion for social media before you started your role at Scholastic?
"I had been a Twitter user personally for a few months before I was tasked with taking on the Scholastic handles. It became one of those things that as soon as I started doing it more regularly for the brand, it just clicked. It felt like it was the culmination of my year spent in Internal Communications and trying to understand the stories behind a brand that other employees should know about. In a way, I'm using a lot of those same skills and I'm trying to find the stories of ours, and share them with customers on social media, and also, more importantly, find the stories from our customers on social media and share them internally in order to improve our business. It's a really great two-way street and I can't imagine doing anything else right now."
Tell us more about your podcast: Writing In Real Life
"My husband is an author of children's books and he's also a stay at home dad. We have a toddler and right after we had our baby, I think he was looking for a new creative outlet. Every Saturday (or Sunday night if we have plans), we sit down, brainstorm and record our podcast. My husband handles all of the editing and I handle all of the promotions. Occasionally, we have other guest authors join us on an episode. It satisfies my husband's love for technology and our joint love for writing - it's also a neat way for us to connect."
