It's summer, and for many of us that means it's time for a vacation. Kudos on the well-deserved break. Before you set out for Hawaii or the Galapagos, check out these tips for getting the most out of the travel pictures you're sure to post on Instagram.
Be Prepared. Keep that camera in your pocket and your eyes peeled. You never know when that sun-dappled dolphin's going to poke its head out of the water.
Rise Early. Filmmakers call it "the magic hour" for a reason. Photos taken at sunrise or sunset look great, of course, but they also inspire.
Be Patient. Behind every moment is a story. Wait for the dramatics to emerge.
Just Ask. Tourism photography can feel a little presumptuous. Turns out, a lot of people are nice and would probably prefer being asked to seeing you trying to snap a picture a la paparazzi tactics.
Seek the Action. Go do interesting things. Did you travel halfway across the world just to drink a latte?
Finer Details. Sometimes an unexpected close-up says more than the whole scene can.
