Last time on Social Media 101 we learned how to create a Facebook business page. This time I will be walking you through the process of creating an Instagram Business Profile.
Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform that was acquired by Facebook in 2012. In the time since the acquisition the platform has seen massive growth, reaching over 600 million users in 2016. They've also added a number of features recently that make the platform even more valuable for engaging and marketing to users including, Instagram Stories, Live Video, and shoppable posts. The first step in getting started on your Instagram strategy is to create a Business Profile for your brand. By doing this you unlock a number of features, analytics being a major one, that will allow you to better gauge the success of your Instagram efforts. The process of creating a business profile is an easy one but it does require that you create a Instagram account for your brand and that you already have a Facebook Business Page.
Next, scroll down and select "Switch to Business Profile"
Instagram will now walk you through a couple of the advantages of a business profile including analytics and additional contact options. Select continue.
Now it's time to connect your Instagram account to a Facebook Business page. If you haven't created one yet, go take a look at my previous Social Media 101 post for how to create one. Log in to your Facebook account using either the Facebook app or the Facebook website.
Once you're signed in select the Business Page you want this account connected to. After making your selection tap next.
It's time to choose the contact methods that you want to make public on your business profile. Your options are email, phone, and a mailing address. You have to select at least one and can do all three if you like. When you're finished tap done and your business profile is ready to go.
