It is not that QR Codes are dead or evil or anything hyperbolic like that - they are just horribly misused. There are benefits and useful applications for them, either technical or industrial for the most part.
Here are a few step-by-step tips to help you utilise QR codes to their full potential. While not strictly "social media," the successful adoption of QR codes meshes well with the trend toward more expansive social use of mobile handheld devices. Maybe best practices will help.
"A little less than a month ago, I posted an entry asking the question – Can video content be produced in-house. It sparked tremendous debate amongst marketing professionals, agencies and videographers. Well, 3 and a bit weeks later I have some of my home-grown video to show and would love to hear your feedback."
With the right strategy, QR codes can provide a valuable tool in reaching the mobile consumer.
At present, QR-Codes are being used in magazines, advertisements and promotional campaigns for providing information, directions, links, maps and the like to its end-users. They can be easily generated for free using QR-code generators. As creating and using these codes is very cost-effective this technology is useful for most businesses and particularly Non-Profit Organizations as they can use QR-Codes to support their work in endless ways.
