Tired of going to the same old bars but feel too lazy to do all the Yelp and word-of-mouth research required to find a new favorite? Never fear: there's an app for that. The premise of Bar Roulette--which is not quite an app yet, but works from the website--is similar to that of Chat Roulette, which randomly pairs you up with people to video-chat with. You must have an Uber account to use Bar Roulette, because what happens is that when you sign in, you set a number of miles you're willing to travel, and an Uber driver shows up at your door. Bar Roulette randomly picks a bar with high ratings in Yelp (it makes sure the bar is actually open), and your Uber driver delivers you there. You won't know the address until you arrive, but your driver does, which makes the journey there into a sort of guessing game.
Seems like you must have a good up-for-anything attitude to use this app. Wait, do we smell a Bud Light product tie-in?

Analytics and numbers geeks now have an app that can turn anything in their lives into data. This strangely addicting app works like a step-counter but on overdrive. It can pull data from numerous (ha!) areas of your life and provide a nicely laid out, real-time data sheet for everything you might possibly care about tracking, whether that's website vistors, home energy usage, Bitcoin value, or a countdown to the next iPhone release date. You can even set alerts for benchmarks, meaning you can get a ping without checking the app when, for example, your tumblr site reaches a certain number of followers. This app is growing slowly but steadily, and that's no surprise as we enter an age where nearly everything in our lives is trackable. From Salesforce, to Nest, to Google Docs, Numerous takes all your data and puts it in one streamlined place for you to view.
Got a ditty in your head you think can be the next big pop song? Me too. And now there's an app to test it out! Humtap, free for iPhone and Andriod, works like this: hum or sing a tune into your phone, tap out a beat, choose a genre, and you're good to go. Add a voiceover, send to friends, and they've got an original-ish song from you on their phone. It's remarkably easy to use, and serious fun. Be an early adopter and try this one out now.
