My title was a little harsh, but I needed to get your attention and it worked because here you are! When I say “avoid being the worst” I mean, avoid being one of those social media types that you roll your eyes at. How do you decide what to RT? If you had a friend who was constantly bragging, would you find that annoying?

Is there anything more nauseating than celebrity PDA? Perhaps celebrity PDA on social media? Famous couples have taken to social media marketing platforms like Twitter and Instagram to share anecdotes, messages of support, and kissy-face selfies with and to the ones they love.

The best thing to remember is your titles have to reflect your company. If you’re a fun, edgy company just roll with it. If you’re a straight laced law firm, keep it professional. And if you’re a company that raises alpaca do NOT post about the proper cat ear cleaning techniques because that has nothing to do with your company.

Local marketing more so than any other approach is personal. People patronize local businesses because they genuinely like them. If you seem robotic, how can you ever expect people to like you? Keep that in mind as you develop your own local campaign.

Journalists arrived in Sochi, expecting to check into their hotel rooms and prepare for two weeks of nonstop obscure sports coverage. However, what they found were hotels without lobbies, rooms with broken light fixtures, wi-fi routers hanging from the ceiling, and stray dogs roaming the streets. A hashtag was born.
