Jeanne Thomas Hugg is the author of The Supervisor’s Companion, a practical guide for new (and lightly trained) supervisors. She also serves as a consultant in human resources, specializing in management training and assisting with the development of a positive and productive corporate culture.
Before discovering her ideal vocation in human resources, she was a university instructor focusing on communicative disorders. As a management consultant, Jeanne’s comprehensive training courses, designed for both groups and individuals, have proven successful in a wide range of business environments.
As a human resource manager and later as a management consultant, Jeanne has seen the consequences of promoting or hiring individuals with limited supervisory skills. She has been encouraged when these individuals gain even the most basic tools needed to provide a positive and productive work environment for their employees. To that end, writing a book that offers this information in an engaging and practical format has become her passion. Jeanne has benefited from her experiences in human resources, where so many have shared their challenges and many others have shared their wisdom. This book reflects her desire to share information that she hopes will benefit employees who struggle with how to effectively supervise employees.
Jeanne has a B.A. in Education from the University of Connecticut, as well as an M.S. in Communication Disorders from Northwestern University. She has three grown children and currently lives in Western Maryland with her husband, Rick, and their two dogs.
