Peter J. Auditore is currently the Principal Researcher at Asterias Research a boutique consultancy focused on strategic and executable marketing communications for the millennium. Formerly Mr. Auditore was Head of SAP’s Business Influencer Program and is a Senior Fellow at the Society for New Communications Research. As a veteran of four technology startups including: Zona Research (Cofounder), Hummingbird (VP Marketing Americas), Survey.com (President) and Exigen Group, (VP Corporate Communications), Mr. Auditore has twenty years of experience in selling and marketing software to LE and SME organizations worldwide. A frequent speaker at industry conferences and tradeshows, Mr. Auditore has written many technology press articles and industry white papers. He holds BS and secondary teaching degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. From 1980-1989 Mr. Auditore became an accomplished and published fisheries scientist, after participating in ocean going research, which included submersible and surface research vessel operations at the National Marine Fisheries Service in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
Vanessa great post as usual, my question is when in the evolution of the community do you begin to break it out into sub communities with specific interest. I haven't see the words normative and corallary in sometime have you been hanging out with university types?
Great post, excellent points, most importantly knowing your cusotmers is key along with building brand through customers who love you to conteract the bully customers. The problem is now you can't just fire and/or hide them in the social media landscape. In business there are always customers that you want to give to the competion. It is hard to apply antiqauted metrics to the social landscape like false postitives.
I think you highlight two excellent points, build your champions and know your customers I have been blogging this for two years as a social customer, some might call me a bully now.
Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated, I think there is a lot of data out there that is not being leveraged. Those who can leverage it and enhance the customer experience into wow win. Again thanks. I gave this post a lot of thought and to be truthful I am sick and tired of hearing the word innovation coming out of so many people's mouths that just will never do it. Make sense, a lot of talk talk talk about innovation but not much really happening.
As you might have realized I am an innovator and the English language is one that evolves. Turning innovation into a verb is innovation the English language. I guess what you meant in your first sentence was I don't mean to sweat the petty shit:)
Name one? I am a marine scientist by training and I use a lot of oceanographic metaphors to make my point in my blogs. I am very sensitive to the terrible issues in Japan and I live in the Tsunami zone, (actually just above it) on the Pacific ocean and we had a small surge here. I noticed when I clicked your name it took me immediately to a managment consulting site all about social media. Are you one of the many rear view mirror analysis types that don't tell us anything that we don't already know? Why does your link go back to a consulting company and are you trolling here for customers?
Thanks for your kind words, the social media tsunami is certainly evolving quickly along with the dynamic and new nature of interactions and interrelationships. Usenet now there is a word I haven't heard before, but what about network news servers, remember them? You are exactly right whether its good or bad its happening and we can't control it that is for sure. Only time will tell about how long an influencer maintains popularity and not all will sound like at Brazilian batteria.
Great post as usual, the member gimmee, I like it and you are right on. But how do you keep the quality of the membership and the content of the community at a high enough level that adds value. SMT has done a great job in building sites and forming communities but there are a lot of posts that don't add value and the information is not trustworthy or its just the reguritation of a press release. And in some cases the content looks like a snake pit of consultants that just graduated from underwater basket weaving school at UC Santa Cruz, nothing against Santa Cruz of course.
