For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a professional communicator. I’m the oldest of five children and my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Truitt, threatened to send me to the coat closet for talking but feared I’d “just talk to the coats.” The talking continued - I studied Spanish and French in college.
Since then, the work I do is about storytelling - informing or persuading an audience, delivering a message, or promoting a service or process.
Working for mStoner, Inc., I spend my time thinking about consulting, leading, and executing marketing and comprehensive communications plans for colleges and universities across the country. My personal background working on a college campus makes me particularly qualified to develop strategy, provide guidance, build consensus, and manage “the process.”
Before mStoner, I spent 22 years working in higher education at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I directed marketing and communications units responsible for the university web presence at wm.edu, social media channels, the campus portal, multimedia, print, and university publications. Also, during my time at William & Mary, I spent 12 years on the management team of the CIO and 9 years in human resources management.
