Does facebook depress you? The idea of facebook and all social media is to share and engage. But with all this sharing is it possible what you're really doing is making others feel bad about their lives.
Think about it. You're having a bad day and you log in to see what is happening and all of your friends have amazing status updates, at least that is what it looks like to you. They are going to parties, out with friends and all their pictures make it look like they are having the time of their lives.
You on the other hand had a miserable day at school, think you failed a test and now have a ton of homework to start. Or you just came home from work after sitting in meetings all day and now have to come home to cook dinner and clean the house.
Those aren't the type of status updates your anxious to share when to you it looks like your friends are having so much more fun. Instead you continue reading what your friends are up to and wonder why you can't seem to organize your life to so you can be part of these happy smiling faces.
Facebook has the amazing power to let you get a glimpse into someone else's life. But you can't forget that you are only seeing what they want you to see. The updates and photos are just images and not necessarily giving you the whole picture.
It's like photos that have been retouched; they are so much better looking but not a true depiction of the subject.
