This blog is not intended to be a "did you hear the latest" type site, though I found this hard to resist.
News Corp is making some badly needed changes to MySpace, according to MarketingVox, including a Facebook-like newsfeed and the creation of multiple profiles, so you can have one for personal use, one for work, and one for your alter-ego or whatever.
I ditched my MySpace account some months ago. Since I have no personal life to speak of, most everything I do relates to conversational media marketing to one extent or the other. MySpace just didn't fit that mold.
It probably also had to do with the fact I was getting invitations from 21 year-old Russian girls to join their networks too. (And, just so you'll know, I didn't take any of them up on their offer. I'm a happily married man after all! And, yes, I know that was spam. Not that I'm not a hottie, but that's a topic for another post on another blog. )
Basically, when I think of MySpace, I think of rock bands, the Dixie Chicks, and people over the age of 40 who think the socnet is all that and a bag of chips.
However, given the option of creating multiple profiles, I might change my mind and rejoin.
One more thing... the article said News Corp may have an interest in purchasing LinkedIn. A LinkedIn/MySpace mashup might be interesting.
