I spoke to a group of career seekers last evening and one of the items discussed was how to be "found" by recruiters. I mentioned many things-a few are shown below:
- Have a completed profile on LinkedIn. LI is the first stop I now make for talent
- Be a part of a group or association in your profession. Association members are typically great resources in any search I do
- Update your profile on ZoomInfo. Many people in the audience had no idea that Zoom existed and they were intrigued when they heard more
- Be active on Facebook-you might be surprised at the number of candidates I find here
- Write articles or find other ways to show up in Google searches. Again, this kind of activity shows deeper commitment to your field of endeavor.
The one thing you didn't see in my list was to go to more job boards. There are some exceptions, but I think most job boards are quite useless and they are my last stop for any search. Candidates who are relying on boards such as Monster and Careerbuilder are going to be sadly disappointed. Niche boards are more helpful, but Social Networks are where the best candidates are found.
