This was extremely insightful. I really appreciate the post, I've been looking into starting up a social media marketing consulting business targeting small businesses more than larger corporations and was most worried about pricing. So thank you, and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

I sat with a client just a couple of days ago who I had built a dashboard for showing him the a very broad over view of listening capabilities social offers. The look on his face when he noticed a negative comment about his business in the bottom right of one of the columns. I sat in his office and together we addressed the issue and the unhappy customer. I walked out of there realizing just how valuable we are. It isn't necassary the platforms we play around in everyday that make us experts or gurus or whatever. It's the ability to provide proven results in real-time.
If I had never taken the time to put myself in his client shoes and think and talk like they wouild. Would I have even had that column in place? Would that customer ever be addressed and resolved. Who knows...

great thoughts, the best way of approaching this is to get as much information as you can from the business that relates to achieving their business goals.
