Facebook can be a great marketing tool for just about any business. Facebook can also be a frustrating marketing tool. Here's why:
Have you spent hundreds of dollars on and offline to get likes and still no one sees your content? You aren't alone. Facebook's algorithm can be very tricky.
Luckily, people are on the world's biggest social media platform at all hours of day and at a moment's notice one piece of content can change anything and everything.
So what should you do? Here are some tips that can help make your marketing on Facebook shine:
- Post at non-peak times. Instead of just being part of the noise and posting during peak hours during the workweek, post when others aren't. That includes before and after regular work hours and on the weekend. You may be surprised in the amount of new engagement you receive.
- Link updates work. According to Facebook's news feed algorithm, hyperlink posts (posts that include a preview image that gets pulled from the blog or website page it is linked from) do much better with reach then photos updates with a link in the caption.
- Teaser images perform better than stock images. When you post a link on your news feed, you sometimes will get the option to choose which image you want to include with the link, if the page linking from has multiple images. Choose original images over stock photography when you can. They seem to perform a tremendously better when it comes to clicks and engagement.
Obviously these are just recommendations and a lot of other factors can play a part including industry, audience and relationship. Try doing some variant testing and analyze what performs the greatest.
