Felines have a long-standing history as companions to the human race, but why exactly have we all grown to love cats so much? An even better question would be, why have they completely taken over the internet in the past few years? Well, the argument could certainly be made that cats are just so darn cute that conquering the world was inevitable.
Their adorable nature translated well onto photographs when a man named Harry Pointer began to dress his adorable companions and stage photographs featuring his pets riding bicycles, eating at the table, and even wearing dunce caps. Mr. Pointer and his odd fascination with cat photography set the stage for a new generation of photographers using felines as subjects, and the invention of the smart phone enabled the mass production of these cat pics.
Cats have also been known as extremely loyal animals. In fact, a tomcat once traveled over 2,500 miles to find its owners who had moved from California all the way to Florida! Talk about perseverance!
Cats have also been known to sense emergency situations before humans. For example, a woman once awoke to find her fathers cat on her chest. She quickly realized that her father was suffering from a stroke in the next room!
