#HashOut, Yahoo!'s new Social talk show on Twitter started off with a bang this morning. Some readers were invited as early as last night receiving a private preview of the question posed to the Twitterverse just hours ago. The question "Moscow judge sentenced a punk band to two years in prison. What musical act would you send to lockup and Why?" has received some heated replys such as:
Today would have been Diamond Darrell's 46th birthday had he not been shot. Which musical act would you shoot @YahooNews?#HashOut
It gets worse: @YahooNews #hashout was pre-planned to prove social media is NOT "an apocalyptically frivolous place"
. @YahooNews are you really, really this insensitive / stupid / ignorant? http://yfrog.com/esou3ktj #HashOut
'Big web company who should know better screws up in social media shocker' well done Yahoo! #HashOut
WTF, @YahooNews? What's next: "Civil rights protesters get lynched. Who would you lynch and why?" Exactly how dumb is@YahooNews #HashOut
Coming up on @YahooNews #hashout: some musicians died of a drug overdose...who would you like to see die of a drug overdose?
If you're unfamiliar with the case at hand, here's a little background. Pussy Riot, a punk band in Russia, was incarcerated after protesting the Church's relationship to Vladimir Putin. The video of their protest can be seen here and more of the story can be found here.
Do you think Yahoo! anticipated such an onslaught of negativity for the debut of #HashOut? I'd love to hear your thoughts on both the case and the show. Please share in the comment section below.
