"Big Boys have to answer Big Boy Questions" Is what Jason says to Steve in this video when he starts to squeem a bit as Jason moves that heat lamp right above Steve's forehead.
Jason Calacanis does a great job grilling Steve Rubel in the start of the interview, and Steve did a great job taking it on, as well as being transparent and open.
Key discussion points during show:
-Jason disagrees with Calacanis on the Ferrari laptop shindig
-Steve even brings up voluntarily the Edelmart situation (fake blogs at Walmart)
-SVP, Rubel is the second most visible person in the company, although he's a few layers away from Richard himself
-They also talk about the Corporate Membrane (I know what this is, believe me) and how to push it
-Buzz Marketing, is it a valid area?
-Steve addresses how he doesn't like the term "Social Media" (remember this post?)
-FatBlogging is an interest to both of them, although Jason's slimming down fast and is now at 194.
-Jason challenges why the use of PR firms, he's not used it at any of his three successful companies and gets tons of buzz. Steve tells him to "put down the Kool-aid".
-Rubelisms: Steve has some silly metaphors, I think we should start a new category called "Rubelisms". listen in to understand Cold French Fries? Kangaroos and Lions mating? Jason likes Orange, much like our friend Marc Canter.
-Jason said he told AOL he'll stay if he was made president of AOL, funny stuff dude, reminds me of high school voting: "free coke in the water fountains".
Also interesting, in the first minute, Steve says he reads/watches my stuff, cool. Everyone has a hard time with my last name. Here's a tip: it's pronounced like two words: Ow - Yang. Easy!
