SavetheInternet.com (which I've written about before) is hosting a call on Wednesday at 1PM ET/10AM PT to discuss action against Internet providers that violate Net Neutrality. According to investigations by the Associated Press and Electronic Frontier Foundation, Comcast has been "secretly crippling users' ability to share information with one another â€" through the BitTorrent, Gnutella, and other applications." Verizon and AT&T have engaged in censorship of musicians and political groups that are critical of the Bush Administration, or run counter to its stances on issues like abortion.
Call-in:
- Dial: 800-418-7236
- Pass Code: 9436592 or "Net Neutrality"
The Coalition recently filed a legal complaint with the FCC regarding Comcast's secret inspection of its customers' communications, and activity to cripple data transfers, but your help is needed to spread this message.
Every blogger, regardless of what topic you normally blog about, should post about Net Neutrality. Your readers deserve to know what's at stake, and a large scale effort will again demonstrate the power bloggers have to speak with a loud enough voice to counter corporations with big money. Think about the statement we can all make - millions of bytes of content defending net neutrality flow through the pipes of big telcos and cable operators like AT&T, Verizon, Qwest and Comcast - that's voting with your feet.
