There is an absolutely ugly practice that I'm seeing more and more of lately and I've about had it!
On more than one occasion in the last 30 days, I've seen several bloggers call people out (as in by name) on their blog to illustrate their point.
I've seen sales bloggers who didn't care for some spam they received so they cut and pasted it (names not changed to protect the innocent either)
I've seen well known bloggers who didn't care for the way other bloggers responded to their blog comments so they called out the other blogger.
I've seen others who didn't care for someone's opinion in a Linkedin discussion so they called the person out on their blog.
Recently, I observed another blogger who thought someone's article was outdated, so they called the person out on their blog.
In every instance the point could have been made perfectly without actually naming the party they had issue with.
In some cases I almost felt a certain "instigating a riot" vibe going on trying to turn their readers against the other party.
Please put your earmuffs on folks, I refuse to clean up my language for the next part.
If you have a point to make, make it.
If you feel your readers can learn a lesson, facilitate that lesson
But . . .
The moment you start taking it over the top by naming people so you can get more hits to your blog at their expense . . .
Now you're just being a DICK!
We're all so much better than that!
Let's all get back to delivering our lessons in a manner that is not only respectful to our readers but in a manner that doesn't hold them hostage in our selfish pissing matches!
