As far as Timeline goes on Facebook, there have been both positive and negative reviews about it. The fact of the matter is that every time that Facebook changes their layout, the world explodes and people's statuses are angry and upset. In reality, are you really upset about it or are you commenting because you can't think of anything else? How do you want to it look? Is it really that bad?
As far as brand pages go, it's fantastic. My fellow coworkers and I believe that the timeline feature itself is great because it allows people to go back and look at the entire history of a company. They can not only look at previous posts and pictures, but also key landmarks and the beginning of the company. It can give the user a better feeling of who the company is and that they care to let their customers know everything about them. However, what is horrible for us as community managers is that the tab use is now not as focused and people are automatically directed to the timeline and not a welcome page.
I just read an article about Facebook and some slight changes they might be rolling out regarding the Timeline. Apparently they might be moving some information about the user to on top of the cover photo. Have you ever heard the phrase, "rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic?" Basically, something disastrous is going to happen but let's change a few little things and that will make the whole lot better.
Since Facebook has gone public, I think they are scrambling. They are scrambling to appease the people and essentially show investors that they are worth the billions of dollars they claim to be. At the end of the day, it's not going to work. I bet users will yet again post to their statuses, "Facebook! Again?! Really?!"
Well, let's see what happens. Your thoughts?
