Ross Mayfield has an interesting post on Seesmic.  Ross asks "How can we make Seesmic more viral?".
Kiva is an amazing site. Â Entrepreneurs in developing countries can use Kiva to raise micro-loan capital from lenders in rich countries. Â Ross talked about lending $700 to help a butcher in Kenya to buy a freezer and expand her business. Â This is a brilliant results orientated way to turn aid into sustainable development.
Ross wanted an idea for how to make Kiva more viral.  Here is my proposal:
Kiva Lending Pools on Facebook
- Facebook user installs the Kiva Lending Pool application
- Facebook user picks a Kiva loan they would like to fund, or a class of loans.
- Facebook user invites their friends to join the pool.
- Friend gets invite and joins the pool.  Based on the honor system, the friend enters the amount they contributed to the loan.
- Kiva Lending Pool keeps a list of the top fund raisers.
None of this functionality is hard to code up. Â Â And all of the functionality is already in Kiva. Â The only point is to use Facebook as a socially viral mechanism to get more people to participate and to give contributors more recognition.
