LinkedIn has announced a new addition to its messaging functionality which enables users to share their location, or a location nearby, to meet up.
As explained by LinkedIn:
"We’ve heard from many of you that this feature would make it easier to coordinate meetings — now you no longer need to switch around to multiple apps just to send a proposed spot to meet. To send a location to a connection, simply tap on the map pin icon in the message compose box in our iOS or Android app, search for a meeting place, and tap send."
The option is another addition to LinkedIn's messaging functionality - back in July, LinkedIn added in new options which enable users to expand the message composer window, attach documents and more easily co-ordinate group chats via message.
And given that an increasing amount of social conversations are now happening in private messages, it makes sense for LinkedIn to enhance this element - while the meet-up functionality clearly has specific, defined function within the LinkedIn flow.
The new option is being rolled out to all users from this week.
