I head to Charleston, SC this morning to join a big group of college friends to celebrate the wedding of Paige and Alex. Currently my eyes are roving around terminal A of Boston Logan, enjoying the people watching. I'm looking forward to the trip for a few reasons, but mainly because I need to get off the grid for a few days. I'm ready to refresh my batteries and hit the ground running next Monday.
As I sit here packing my bags and thinking about how lucky I am that my good friends is marrying a woman even better than he (yeah, you heard me Alex) it is interesting to review your own marriage and the lessons you learn even only after four years. As I was going through my list of lessons learned they seemed a bit familiar.
Communicate regularly, not just when you want something
Sometimes what you expect is not what happens, adapt
Don't be fake, people will see right through it
Every once in a while, you need to get away
Relationships are the key to communications, whether you are calling it social media, public relations, or new media. Should I just read this as a toast to the newlyweds? Since most of my friends don't know, nor care, about social media I think I'll refrain, but you can bet I'll be showing many of them Twitter throughout the weekend My congratulations to Paige and Alex; I'll see you all as soon as I touchdown.
