Culture of Content Creation
The Culture of Content Creation is a video series about people who make their own digital content to share with the world - such as blogs, podcasts, wiki entries, online product reviews or videos - to learn why they do it, what they find rewarding, and how they view their role in the world. Started in early 2008, this cultural media project from Elastic Lab continues today, reflecting changes in technology, knowledge and the social fabric of the Internet.
"Telling stories of people's lives" takes a look at filmmaker and content creator Alex Andrews who works at Imagine!, a nonprofit that provides support services to more than 2,800 individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome in Boulder Colorado. Alex's job is to not only document the amazing work they do at Imagine!, but also to create training videos for use with the staff. He is their media guru and through his work he has been able to help spread the message of their inspiring work Imagine! to a wide audience. In this video Alex not only ponders about utilizing the tools at hand to help people better understand what individuals with disabilities go through on a a daily basis, but he also discusses how he got into this side of the work. It's a complicated process because of all the variables involved with filming clients with disabilities while still maintaining a level of care and sensitivity. Alex works very hard to keep the the their concerns and dignity in the forefront of his mind while working on his various projects. So gain a better understanding and watch, "Telling stories of people's lives."
