The Culture of Content Creation
The Culture of Content Creation is a video series about people who make their own digital content to share with the world - such as blogs, podcasts, wiki entries, online product reviews or videos - to learn why they do it, what they find rewarding, and how they view their role in the world. Started in early 2008, this cultural media project from Elastic Lab continues today, reflecting changes in technology, knowledge and the social fabric of the Internet.
"This career is a worthy cause" takes a look at freelance journalist and documentarian Sarah Weinstein. Sarah has literally scraped her way to the top by working hard and carving out her own niche in the industry. She began as a psychology major but after doing an internship at Dateline in Washington D.C. followed by running scripts at the 1996 Democratic National Convention, she found her passion for video. Sarah went back to school and got her Master's Degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. She has done everything in the industry from working as a "one man band" for CNN to filling in as an anchor to producing and editing. She is currently co-directing and shooting a feature length documentary on Proposition 8. In her contribution to the Culture of Content Creation series Sarah talks about her altruistic intentions in journalism and filmmaking. She goes on to talk about the shift in where her content ends up from traditional broadcast outlets to now which is primarily online. Sarah continues to be a vibrant and unique voice in the realm of news, music, film, and video.
