As site after site went dark yesterday in protest of SOPA and PIPA, I was reminded of an early episode in this series called "This is not how it always was." It's a simple story. The Internet - as an instrument for the free exchange of information - has fundamentally reshaped how we consume, produce, communicate, learn, and share ideas. Voiced by filmmaker Sarah Weinstein, filmmaker Matt Johnson, activist and multi-media producer Steev Hise, and blogger Craig Hickman. After just one day in the dark, we can't forget that "This is not how it always was."
About the Series
The Culture of Content Creation is a video series about people who make their own digital content for sharing - such as blogs, podcasts, wiki entries, online product reviews or videos - to learn why they do it, what they find rewarding, and how they view their role in the world. Started in early 2008, this cultural media project from Elastic Lab continues today, reflecting changes in technology, knowledge and the social fabric of the Internet.
