Almost all the social media marketing strategies start with delivering message to the masse, promoting brand image and reaching out to the targeted audience as far as possible. However, after a month or two, we start realizing the harsh reality that nobody is interested in buying our theory. There is almost no growth in the sales volume, no spike in the newsletter subscription rate and no improvement in the engagement front. So, it is quite clear that there is something missing in your marketing strategy. Ok, let me help you here. The trust factor is missing here. In simple English, people do not believe you and your brand.
Why the trust factor is missing?
Trust can be the single most decisive factor why people are not that interested in engaging with your brand. They can be even reluctant to interact with you.
Now in real life, trust is not built overnight. It takes loads of efforts and sometimes, it is built via word and mouth marketing, which is the direct outcome of great customer support, awesome product and happy employees. But the trickiest part of word or mouth marketing is that you cannot control it. You will earn positive reviews or receive flaks from people for what you are. However, sometimes as it appears, despite having a solid reputation offline, you may still struggle with building a solid presence online. Reasons could be that your customers are not that active online. However, this does not mean that you should stop your marketing initiative and wait for them to be active online. Nope, you need to be proactive and here is how you can bolster your online presence by focusing on the trust factor -
Social proof
People spend thousands of dollars on custom facebook cover pic, twitter background and other things. I have nothing against this practice. It is good to customize your social presence because this is what you set you apart from the rest of the others. But you should not be dependent on it solely. You need present yourself as you are. No need to add glamour quotient, nothing. Try to feature what others are saying about you or your company. Include customers' testimonials, references of the friends, feature some of your outstanding products, achievements etc prominently; and you will be just awesome. Make all of these things available in single click otherwise majority of people will be missing out on them.
Focus on Authority
Do not fake yourself as someone with authority if you are not. Just a few clicks and all your details pertained to who you are, your background, who are your clients, your contacts etc are available. So, if you are not sure about a particular topic, do not post gibberish there. It might be snowballed into something else and you will find yourself in troubled water. So, whenever you are making a statement, you need to make sure that you have something to backup your claims.
Physicians Heal Thyself
I mean, if you are claiming that you are the best copyrighter and your website contains numerous sentence formation errors, others will treat you as a laughing stock. I have come across a person who claims him to be finest website designer in his city and when I bumped on his website to check his creative tidbits, I cringed in disbelief. The website looks like it is designed by a fourth grader. So, think twice before making any such tall claims.
Think about your friend circle
Try to be friend with people who can help you be a better person, learn new things and empower you. So, there is no point in keeping those people in your circle who let you down all the time and treat you badly before everyone. Kick them out of your circle; they do deserve to be treated like that. So, next time onwards, you need to tread cautiously before you accept friend request from people unknown. Do a little background research, check out what they are posting on their time line, their recent tweets and you will be able to get a clear idea of their personality. The thing is if you have the right peers, your profile will look more robust and more trustworthy.
