Starting on November 29 our friend Renee Blodgett, along with a handful of other bloggers from around the world, embarked on an exciting adventureâ€"a 9-day tour in South Africa, from the North to South and back again, exploring South African innovation.
South Africa's International Marketing Council has sponsored Renee, along with eight other American bloggers, a French blogger and 4 South African bloggers, to visit South Africa. They will be blogging about their trip at We Blog the World, a blog "dedicated to global storytelling from multi-faceted views." One of the goals of this trip is to improve communication between different cultures, as well as to see some of South Africa's innovative technology and to simply open up the floor for new and interesting conversations amongst the bloggers, and on the Web.
The group of bloggers arrived in Johannesburg on the 29th and kicked things off the next day. Over the course of their trip they will go on all sorts of cool adventuresâ€"a helicopter ride to see De Beers' state-of-the-art mining ship, a 4km trip into the heart of the world's deepest mine, an inside look into World Cup 2010 in Soccer City, hikes, wine tastings and more, all the while writing about their experience together.
The bloggers involved include Renee, Zadi Diaz, Mona Gable, Ray Lewis, John Gartner, Chris Morrison, David Sasaki, Eliane Fioret, Graeme Wood, Simon Barber, Nick Haralambous and Ndumiso Ngcobo. From the looks of their blog posts, they are having a blast so far and I can't wait to read about the rest of their exciting adventures.
