A recent survey by PermissionTV indicated that online video would be a primary focus of their digital marketing plans for over two thirds (67%) of advertising, marketing and media executives who participated in their survey.
As you will have seen I've been experimenting with online video, from recording on my Blackberry and sending it to Qik, creating videos over at 12Seconds.tv and Utterli, creating screen captures and also recording people I meet.
I also use online video to share insights and provide feedback to my clients as I find it faster for me to do and easier for them to understand my feedback versus emails going back and forward.
I've also been experimenting with video distribution networks and have managed to achieve some great results in terms of search engine rankings on the first page of Google for some of the video's I have created so providing me with some interesting case studies in relation to online visibility.
I've also been tracking where I have been creating more engagement - not just views, but people actively engaging in the conversation.
This week one of my videos I uploaded to Facebook (not just adding it to an application but actually uploading to Facebook). I tagged a couple of people that I referenced in the video but not only they but others began a conversation online about the information and ideas I shared and started to share their questions and ideas amongst each other.
I don't think I anticipated the number of comments - my blog is not one that actively has tens or hundreds of comments - nor do I have lots of comments on my videos on YouTube, FriendFeed or other platforms which has left me with some analysis of why this happened - was it the content, the location, the fact that Facebook shows your feeds to people as a default page and you can quickly see what people in your network have been commenting on?
If you've uploaded video's to Facebook do you find the same in terms of online engagement versus other platforms you are using for video distribution?
What do you recommend for not only visibility but creating connections and conversation and supporting you to express your personal brand online?
