I sent this pithy email message to my colleagues yesterday. I thought they'd tell me to go to hell. But they actually liked it. So I'm sharing it with you too. To set some context, 'writing' is a fundamental skill-set for our profession -- product marketing. You either grow or you die.
That's pretty much true of a plant, and it's fairly accurate when it comes to honing our professional skills as well. And just what is one of our most coveted skills here in Product Marketing? Writing!I found this blog post on "73 Ways To Become a Better Writer" pretty cool, and hope you will too. At first glance I thought that 73 hints was over the top, but these are relatively short and pithy.Actually, I have a 74th suggestion, and I need to take my own medicine here. "Focus on the clarity of your email messages.
We each have dozens of opportunities every day to improve our writing skills by writing clearer, more concise, and more understandable email messages. Failure to do so results in confusion, unnecessary repetitive communications, and poor follow-through. 'Success' increases organizational effectiveness and efficiency, not to mention one's own writing skills." Again, we all (myself absolutely included) can improve in this area.
