Sidebars are ineffective places to promote your call to action, engagement items, or social media channels. Like most things, sidebars used to work but not anymore. Unfortunately, your readers’ overtaxed attention is tuned to do two things exceptionally well. Ignore advertising or anything that “might” be advertising and ignore anything that doesn’t change.
