For the month of May 2017, video content continues to drive engagement for most Publishers in the various genres. Powered by Shareablee data, the top brands ranked by total actions (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube) for each respective industry is shown in the ranking below.
Some new surprises in this month's rankings.
In Politics, which has been dominated by Breitbart News, this month The Hill takes 1st place with 13.6 million total actions and 16.9 million video views.
In the General News category, The Huffington Post jumped to the #1 spot with 13.8 million total actions and 36.7 million video views. USA Today has been a dominant voice in the General News genre but they recently discovered an overwhelming amount of Likes from fake accounts that were recently purged with the help of Facebook. This has affected engagement from a pure numbers perspective - relative to their content, they continue to see very strong performance.
In the Entertainment category, UNILAD continues to outpace its competitors with 88.9 million actions and an astonishing 2.5 billion video views.
In the Automotive category, Super Street Magazine continues to dominate with 3.3 million actions and a 50% increase in video views vs April with 928 thousand video views.
Scary Mommy is still #1 in the Family genre with 7.5 million actions and over 28.5 million video views - that's a 17% increase in actions and 49% increase in video views vs April.
In the Nature category, National Geographic maintains its top spot with 128.8 million actions and over 87.8 million video views.
A few notable highlights:
- In the Food category, Tasty continues to dish out great videos to dominate with 28.3 million actions and 782.5 million video views
- Men's Interest publication, Complex, had over 32.4 million actions and 59.9 million video views.
- In the Fashion & Style category HYPEBEAST dominates with 34.3 million actions and 6 million video views.
