But my beloved blog, Girl on the Right, began to grow, as did my knowledge of others out there just like me. By the time I returned to Canada, I had a decent list of "favorites" in my browser. So I knew there would be a few like me in terrifying hippy-esque Toronto. Sure enough, within a matter of months I had a stable of like-minded friends, I was active in local politics (even becoming VP in my district), and even managed to throw a Vast Right Wing Christmas Party with guest flying in from all over North America.
Left to my own devices in "meatspace", or real life, I would not have been able to attract this kind of crown. There wouldn't be annual trips to DC, or rendez-vouz with the girls on someone's ranch or in a hotel in Tampa. When times are tough, I turn to my readers and blog friends for help and advice. And when I'm bored, there's always someone to lunch with.
Time and again I hear stories that echo my own, be they tales of romance or just friendships like the ones I have found. Without the 'net, where would all us various disabled folk be?
