Have you ever been frustrated because as your page's admin, you were not able to like and comment on page posts as yourself ? A recent Facebook page change now gives you that ability. At the bottom right hand corner of Page posts and event posts, you can now choose to like and comment as yourself, that page (if you are an admin), or another page that you admin.
Previously, the inability to engage with and promote your page posts as yourself has limited admins. For many businesses, especially small ones, the owner (you) is your company's best advocate. The inability to interact as yourself created a lack of credibility. Although you were able to share posts to your own page, it will be interesting to see the new dynamic achieved through this new feature. Please note, I first noticed this feature today and it is not yet rolled out to all users.
With the ability to interact with a page post as yourself, opportunities to start or continue a blossoming conversation arise. If you post an article on your organization's page, you could then comment as yourself detailing what you think is good and/or bad about it. When your friends and others who like your page see your comment, this could spur a conversation. While you've always been able to comment on page posts, commenting as yourself brings a new facet.
In addition to allowing users to interact with their own page posts, page admins are also able to interact with posts on event pages. Whether it's your own organization having an event or an organization that you're a page admin for, you now have the ability to like and comment as yourself on event page posts. This activity will be shown in the ticker on the top right hand side of your Facebook friends newsfeed, encouraging them to learn more about the posts you're interacting with.
A feature that has been available before but seemingly not as widely encouraged (since it was almost hidden in comparison to now) is being able to engage with page posts as other facebook pages. You were previously allowed to "use facebook as your page" when commenting on other pages posts, but now the option is there at the bottom right hand corner of all page posts. With this option more widely seen and encouraged, it seems Facebook wants your company to join the conversation.
What are some ways you think this new dynamic will add (or take away from) engagement on Facebook posts? Do you think it will create more spam or more meaningful conversations? Both? Let us know in the comments below!
