1000 Years On Facebook...
Now, we know that Facebook has been encouraging us to document our own timeline, but our 100 years (if we're lucky) on this earth can't compare to the life of one of the UK's best known attractions. The Tower Of London now has a timeline on Facebook.
The Tower's Facebook Timeline includes: the execution of Anne Boleyn (1538); the torture of Guy Fawkes (1605); the murder of the two Princes in the Tower (1483) and the Great Fire of London (1666) - along with stories of iconic Beefeaters and the legendary ravens.
Created by the digital team at Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity that cares for the Tower of London, this Timeline is the first of what will likely be many interactive (and long) historic records on Facebook.
According to Wallblog.co.uk, Tim Powell, Digital Media Manager for Historic Royal Palaces, said: "It's an incredibly powerful way for modern audiences to engage with the Tower's rich history, in the same way they interact with their friends and record their own lives. We just wonder if Henry VIII and the Tower's other infamous characters would have minded having their pasts scrutinised by the Facebook generation."
